Because I don't want to forget....

Okay....so I don't want to forget the details from the Richmond Marathon.....this was how the experience was for me....

We froze our tooshies off from about 6:15am - 8:00am, but it was nice to see the 8k and 1/2 marathon start.
Eric was in Corral 1, and I was in Corral 4 (the last one)...will not be doing this again. It took about 4-5 miles to get my pace, because I couldn't pass people.....it was too crowded....I had to pee super bad and waited in line at mile 4 to do so. After mile 6, I started warming up and getting into the groove. At mile 8 I decided to take my first Gu Gel that I had been holding in my hand. I wasn't really sure if I needed it, but I figured it couldn't hurt, plus I didn't want to carry it anymore. I started noticing a lot of people already dropping off and starting to walk. The crowd was great and I even got a compliment from a man in a Santa suit.....Everything was a breeze until after mile 15. I took another energy gel while on the James River Bridge. At mile 17 they had a candy station and I downed a cup of gummies like it was a shot of Patron or crack or something. And, a coke....HA! From mile 17 thru 20 was mentally tough for me, but then I saw my time at mile 20 and was like....WHAT????...I'm doin pretty good....I only got 6 miles left Missy! You do this almost everyday on the treadmill....you got this! BTW, I was having many conversations with myself during this race....Anyway, miles 20 thru 23 were okay....at mile 22, a crowd of men were passing out beer and shots....it was probably the only time EVER...that I would pass up a cold beer, but I just needed to keep going....at the next candy station, I took another shot cup of gummies, pretzels and coke. At mile 23 I had to pee again....everything was a blur until I saw the sign for mile 26....then, this girl from the crowd started running with me and I started to get emotional and tearing up.....I was so excited to see Eric that's all I could focus on....He was at the finish waiting for me and they put my medal around my neck and I grabbed Eric and didn't let go.....no really....I thought I wouldn't be able to walk ever again....he made me keep walking for a bit and then handed me my compression socks to put on....my legs immediately felt better.....I started crying....not sure why, but I think it was just because I was so freakin proud that I accomplished it. I know it might sound crazy, but no one can make you go out and do this....some people might have the athletic ability to not train and go run 26.2 miles, but not I....I worked for it....I owned it....it is a day I won't ever forget.....

Sorry if this post as a lot of errors...no time to fix.....got to take Asher to preschool!
