Question: Why is granola so expensive???
It was almost $5 for a little, stinkin bag.....so, I picked up the bag and put it in my cart....then, I picked up the bag and put it back on the shelf....I proceeded to do this again....I know...yes, I am crazy....
Asher won't eat it.....
Eric won't eat it.....
This $5 little, stinkin bag of granola would only be consumed by myself.....
I don't really need it......but, I want it.....
Yes. This convesation was going on in my head while I was in the Bread/Cereal Aisle of Target.
Poor Asher.....he has a Crazy Mommy.....:)
So, instead of getting the $5 little, stinkin bag of granola that I so desperately wanted.....I decided I could make my own granola.....enough granola for a year by purchasing the huge box of Quaker Oats that was less than $3.....did I mention I was crazy????
Came home....googled a recipe for granola.....it took 30 minutes.....Viola!!!....it was delicous!!!
2 cups rolled oats
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons plus 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
1/4 cup honey
1/4 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1/3 cup whole almonds (Note: I didn't not use any of the following ingredients....just more oats...)
1/3 cup whole hazelnuts
1/3 cup golden raisins
1/3 cup dried cherries
Temp: 325...30 minutes
Mix in bowl. Spread out on baking sheet. Toss every 10 minutes.
Anyway, I've decided to blame the hippies for pricey granola....
