My son is so much smarter than I am....

I know this may seem like I am bragging, but I'm not.....my son is really smart. I already worry about the day when he realizes this.....how his Mom is just average intelligence.....maybe below average....and uses this to his advantage in every way. Asher takes after his Dad in almost every way. Don't get me wrong....I am happy for that.....I am Eric's biggest fan, but Eric has given me one hell of a work out in my earlier years.....I am fearful of the bequeathed....
Did I use the word "bequeathed" correctly????

Couch Potato Sunday

Just got home from church.....we are going to do a lot of nothing today!!!

YUM.....

26.2???

Can I do it? I think so....we'll see very soon....Eric and I are going to do the Richmond Marathon on November 13th.....I have been running more and getting stronger. I am basically going to use the Richmond Marathon as a practice run for a bigger race that we are doing in December. Details will be disclosed at a later date! Anyway, this morning Eric had a 5mile race in Midlothian. He got up before the crack of dawn to do it. I was excited for him, but he was so disappointed with the race. It was the worse race set-up he has ever seen. The racers didn't know where to run I guess. He had to stop several times to ask what direction to go......it was a bust.

He came home and we headed to the battlefield. We ran 15 miles! At the battlefield!!! That is one tough run to do! I am thankful that he wanted to go and run with me. He is my biggest motivator. Pushing Asher for 15 miles up and down hills after a race is incredible. I needed him this morning though. Without him being there for his, "Good job babe" and making sure I sucked water down I would have probably walked a couple of those hills.....

I did get an injury though! Right under my boobies I have a very painful cut where my sports bra rubbed my skin raw.....hurts so bad!!!
Going to have to start using tape or something.....

Anyway, we are relaxing for the rest of the day.....watching a lot of football and eating large amounts of naughty food......

Cookbooks...

I have a slight obsession with cookbooks....I have a ton and read them like I you would read a novel. Most of the time it is just to find inspiration, but there are a few cookbooks that I cherish and the recipes bring me back to a time or memory.
These are my 3 favorites...also, my first 3 cookbooks that I ever purchased.

#1.  Naomi's Home Company (Naomi Judd)
Moving from Ohio to California after we got married was a huge adjustment. Eric was gone a lot and I was homesick quite a bit. I happened to be in a bookstore at the mall and started flipping through this cookbook. It reminded me of my Mom. I bought it and immediately went home and read it cover to cover. It was almost like the cookbook brought me back to when I was 7 years old and would sing Judd songs with my Mom. All the recipes had a story and photo. The recipes were of things that I grew up eating. It was right around Thanksgiving, and Eric was deployed. One of my dearest friends (Alicia), invited me over to celebrate. I decided I was going to make Naomi's Sweet Potato Casserole to take over. It was not only a success, but I remember saying that I wish I could slather it all over Eric's body and lick it off! HA! I know I'm not normal, but he was gone A LOT....I was day dreaming you know? Anyway, that was the point when I fell in love with cooking...the gratification...the joy...the memories....all of it! This cookbook is stained and dirty on most of the pages. I have made so many yummy meals from it. This is hands down my favorite cookbook that I own.

#2.  The Farmhouse Cookbook (Liz Trigg)
This is a great cookbook. Has so many recipes that I have made minus a few ingedients here or there (Eric can be picky about certain foods). It has beautiful photos and easy-to-follow directions. I used to have it sitting out on our coffee table all the time.

#3.  Cooking With Astrology (Sydney Omarr)
This cookbook is really fun. It is more like a REAL book. A lot of information about how astrology and food/entertaining are connected. It has great recipes that are easy and fun. This cookbook reminds me of California. It probably started my whole obsession with buying more cookbooks. A great book to read that happens to have recipes in it.

Why am I talking about my fav cookbooks? It was a topic discussed on one of my fav blogs that I read daily. Do you have a fav cookbook?

Sweets...

This was made just for Eric....he shared a little bit with Asher....
I am a TERRIBLE cake decorator....just aweful....

Tonight was great.....Asher is super excited about his party tomorrow....Spaghetti was yummy....and, I'm going to read a new cookbook....I found it for 99 cents.....SWEET!!!

Inner Battles/Cupcakes/Spaghetti

I had an inner battle this morning. My heart said, "run Missy...you know it will be fun...you'll feel the rush that you know you won't get from just riding the bike." My head said, "Missy, don't you dare run! You are going to overdo it! You'll be sorry. Eric will shake his head and tell you that he warned you. Don't do it....Don't do it." I am crazy.....REALLY.....inner battles between myself happens quite often.....just so you know....

Anyway....I rode the bike....workout was just ok....

Asher made this today at school!
I spent my day baking cupcakes for Asher's Halloween Party tomorrow and making dinner....

I think they turned out pretty good!
Spaghetti for dinner....
I decided to use the canned tomatoes that Joanie's husband gave me....I had a really hard time getting the jar open.....desperate times call for desperate measures.....

The rest of the preparation was fine......
This is the way I made it today.....

1 lb ground beef
1 lb ground hot sausage (Jimmy Dean)
1 onion chopped
1 jar of tomatoes
1/2 jar of prepared spagetti sauce
1/2 bottle of red wine
crushed red pepper
italian seasoning
lots of garlic
salt & pepper

LET IT SIMMER FOR HOURS......

Weekend in D.C.

Saturday morning I woke up at 6 am to do my 18 miles......mission completed....I pretty much had to walk most of the last mile though.....it was soooo hard.....I will now use the sports glide (like my husband told me so many times before)......painful chafing on my inner thighs and where my sports bra cuts into me...right underneath my boobies.....aaahhh....the pain!!

I gotta say...I was pretty impressed I accomplished this.....when I came home, I got a big pat on the back from hubby too.....man that felt good....

Anyway, Eric had a race today!!!! The Army 10 Miler in Washington D.C.!!! We headed up yesterday after I got showered and a quick snack We went straight to the Expo to get Eric's packet info. Then, headed to the Hard Rock for an early dinner......we brought Asher plenty of projects to do...and it helped that he was hungry....he was really impressed with the Hard Rock experience....he kept saying, "Rock and Roll!"....we got to really sit and enjoy our food along with the atmosphere.....it was nice to be able to go to dinner with him and take our time......

This is what we ordered:

Me:  I order the same thing everytime.....it is the best burger I have ever had.....

Some of these pics are not good...Eric was taking them on his phone....

Anyway, it was a great weekend...we are back home now....Eric got his Army Sustainment Magazine in the mail (he wrote an article in it)...we are watching football...Cleveland Browns are winning again New Orleans Saints!!!!....Dominoes pizza is being devoured....we have netflix movies for later....LIFE IS GOOD!!!
